Art Basel in Hong Kong 2014 and 2013

Art Basel is the world’s premier modern and contemporary art fair, with the highest quality of modern and contemporary art works on show, from classic forms to pieces by the most advanced experimentalists.

Art Basel in Hong Kong is the newest Art Basel show. With half of the participating galleries drawn from Asia and Asia-Pacific, Art Basel in Hong Kong plays a significant role in the international art-world, giving the outside world access to the region's artists and galleries and vice versa.

In 2013 Art Basel hosted their first show in Hong Kong. Tom Postma Design developed a very specific stacked floor plan with routing over three levels inside the prominent HKCEC building. Special to this Art Basel fair is the spacious inside public space that is connected to the gallery spaces inside the halls via numerous entrances.

Tom Postma Design also created the overall look and feel of the fair. On top of the spacious floor plan, while taking the complex routing into account, Tom Postma Design designed all specific areas, among which the show gate, the entrance areas, sponsor areas, restaurant, cafes, seating - and magazine areas and the high class VIP Lounge with special restaurant.

In 2014 Tom Postma Design adapted the design for the entrance areas, the magazines- and sponsor areas and the VIP Lounge. The cooperation with the implementing companies Uniplan and Pico remained on a high level.
